Public Health Planning for Hearing Impairment

Pakistan Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences organizes this course in collaboration with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The course is conducted through international and national experts in the field of Audiology.

The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with the public health approach to ear and hearing care for communities in developing countries, and to encourage them to implement and put it into practice.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how public health strategies can be used to address hearing loss at a population level.
  • Explore the epidemiology of ear diseases and hearing loss in resource-limited settings.
  • Gain insights into community-based research on hearing care programs.
  • Examine prevention and rehabilitation strategies for hearing impairment.
  • Learn the role of primary-level ear and hearing care and the importance of training health workers.
  • Discover effective ways to raise awareness and mobilize resources for hearing health.
  • Develop a country-specific action plan for ear and hearing health improvement.
