Orientation and Mobility Training
PIRS recently organized an Orientation and Mobility training session, and we’re thrilled to share that students actively participated with great enthusiasm! It was an empowering experience aimed at building confidence and independence. A big thank you to everyone who made this session a success!

Myopia Awareness Week
During Myopia Awareness Week, PIRS highlighted the message “Screen Down, Eyes Up” to stress the importance of reducing screen time and spending more time outdoors. With rising myopia cases, especially among children, this initiative aimed to raise awareness about healthy visual habits. PIRS remains committed to promoting better eye health for a brighter future.

Sport Week 2025
PIRS students enthusiastically took part in Isra Sports Week 2025 at the Islamabad Sports Complex. The event was packed with excitement, friendly competition, and team spirit. Our students secured the runners-up position in badminton, showcasing great effort and skill. Congratulations to all participants for representing PIRS with pride and enthusiasm!

SEVA Foundation Team Visit To PIRS
PIRS recently welcomed Ravindra Shakya (Regional Program Manager – SEVA Foundation) and Dr. Binita Sharma (Consultant Ophthalmologist & Head of Program Nepal – SEVA Foundation) during their 10-day visit to Pakistan.
Their visit aimed to gain insight into eye care programs and human resource development in optometry, while also exploring ways to expand and strengthen the partnership between SEVA Foundation and CHEF International.

Insightful Orthoptics Workshop: Expertise from Ms. Kahsmla Rafique
Pakistan Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences recently held a one-day Orthoptics workshop featuring Ms. Kahsmla Rafique as the guest speaker. Her expertise brought valuable insights into orthoptic practices, clinical techniques, and their vital role in patient rehabilitation. We thank all the participants and contributors for making the session insightful, impactful, and truly engaging for everyone involved.

6 Convocation 2025
PIRS celebrated Convocation 2025 on February 22nd, awarding degrees in BS Vision Sciences, BS Audiology, and BS Prosthetics & Orthotics. The ceremony marked a proud milestone for our graduating students, their families, and the entire institution.
We wholeheartedly applaud the hard work, determination, and perseverance of the Class of 2024–2025. Your achievements inspire us all, and we wish you continued success, growth, and excellence as you step into the next chapter of your journey.

PRP and ICRC Visit to PIRS
Mr. Ahmad Al Mosa (PRP Manager) and Mr. Abdul Nasir from ICRC visited PIRS to discuss future collaboration. It was agreed that a Diploma Program in Prosthetics and Orthotics will commence in September 2023, with 20 students sponsored by ICRC.
To formalize this partnership, PIRS and ICRC are scheduled to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in August. This initiative marks an important step toward advancing rehabilitation education and services.

World Sight Day 2023
PIRS marked World Sight Day with a heartfelt message on the importance of protecting our vision, especially in the workplace. With the theme “Love Your Eyes at Work,” the campaign focused on raising awareness around eye health and safety.
From regular check-ups to adopting better visual habits, PIRS encouraged everyone to take proactive steps for healthy eyes. Together, we aim to build a world where clear vision is a priority, not a privilege.

Primary Eye Care Centre
PIRS established a Primary Eye Care Centre in Madni Town, Nilore, and organized a free eye and medical camp on June 24, 2021, in collaboration with HDF. The camp received an overwhelming response, with nearly 250 patients benefiting from consultations and support.
Free medicines were distributed on-site, and those requiring corrective eyewear will receive glasses after proper dispensing. The initiative was widely appreciated by the local community for its impact and accessibility.

Free Medical and Eye Camp at Nilore
PIRS organized a free eye and medical camp at Smart Learners School, Nilore, on October 14, 2021, in collaboration with HDF. Nearly 250 patients attended and benefited from the services provided, expressing appreciation for the efforts of both teams.
Free glasses were distributed to those in need, ensuring better access to vision care for underprivileged individuals.

Spectacles Provided to School Children
PIRS conducted school screening programs across Rawalpindi and Islamabad to identify vision issues among students. Children diagnosed with uncorrected refractive errors were provided with free spectacles to support their academic and personal development.
These screenings aim to promote early detection and improve access to essential eye care.

International Disability Day at PIRS
PIRS observed International Disability Day of Persons with the theme “Not All Disabilities Are Visible.” The event emphasized the need for inclusion, accessibility, and support for individuals with visible & invisible disabilities.
Guests from government, NGOs, and academia joined the session, calling for stronger efforts to empower persons with disabilities across all areas of life.
