Outreach Programme (Community and School Screenings)


  • School and community screening camps in ICT and Rawalpindi, Mardan, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Quetta
  • Conducted with partner organizations such as Behbud Association of Pakistan, Human Development Foundation, ISRA Foundation, ICRC, Pak Turk Schools
  • 80,000 school children screened, and more than 15,000 eyeglasses distributed
  • 1,200 Madrasah students also screened
  • More than 25,000 people screened, with 80% females and children in community outreach camps
  • Public transport drivers, railway workers, traffic wardens (ICT), security guards, and police trainees at Mansehra Police Training School screened for vision and hearing impairment
  • Screening of Christian community in Christian Colony Islamabad

Research and Development


The Research and Development unit was established at PIRS with the aim of developing and implementing an active research programme. The R&D unit strengthened research activities in thematic areas including eye health, ear and hearing health, physical disability, assistive technology, and rehabilitation. Several research studies were published in national and international journals, contributing to evidence-based advocacy.
